About Me

Scope of Service Experience
Newmark Mountain West represents the latest evolution of Brokerage offering the best solution for maximizing local and national resources. The full Newmark Mountain West toolkit spans the globe offering Financing, Corporate Services, Asset management, and brokerage.

My primary focus is on sales and large property transactions. 25+ years experience competing exclusively in Utah’s Industrial Real Estate Market provided a firm foundation for understanding every aspect of the real estate market and working with all of the industries.

The local foundation is solid, starting by researching and building my company’s database, then leasing my mentor’s properties. That work evolved into securing listings followed by sales of buildings and land – improved and unimproved, speculative development consultation, and Income Property Sales.

Hundreds of transactions later, surviving bad markets characterized by double-digit interest rates and 15% vacancy then thriving through good markets, I know what to expect and how to make things happen.

Year in and year out we have helped our clients achieve their real estate objectives through informed decision making. We leverage proprietary resources to achieve desired results. We embrace client objectives with a personal commitment to helping them seize opportunities with rational informed decision making.

The world is getting more sophisticated and moving faster. We recognize that our success hinges upon embracing change while delivering accountability and dependability. Experience helps us see around corners to minimize surprises enabling us to guide our clients to successful conclusions – all throughout with high levels of communication. We are committed.

Background & Experience
A process driven, systematic approach is the foundation upon which Jim Sheldon has built his impressive track record. Industrial properties have been his exclusive specialty since 1984. More than 200 individual transactions account for his top ranking within the industry year in and year out.

After fifteen years with CB Richard Ellis, where he served as First Vice President, Jim joined Newmark in January of 1999. The move marked another crucial step in Jim’s business development. “This move is a refinement in my effort to deliver the best service to my clients,” Jim says of his move. “Burroughs taught me how to sell but their product couldn’t be the best solution for every application. Real estate brokerage provided the avenue for satisfying my client’s needs and objectives with the best product solution.” Jim continues, “Newmark local ownership encourages a long term perspective and a commitment level that is unnatural to a national, corporately owned brokerage company. Newmark offers the best solution for national resources through locally owned businesses. Real estate is unique to local markets and a locally owned company has the vested interest to make the right long term decisions quickly. Failure is not an option; there is no corporate umbrella.”

Jim’s successes result from taking personal responsibility and ownership of each endeavor. The ownership along with the combination of Jim’s background with Corporate America, high technology orientation, and a commitment to the long view has enabled him to enjoy relationships with companies ranging from local sole proprietors to corporate multinationals.
