Cinco de Mayo Celebration!

At Mountain West, we celebrate Cinco de Mayo the American way – with hot dogs.

Local company JDawgs came to our office and grilled their dawgs fresh on the spot. In addition to the usual fixings, they brought their special sauce, of course. An old family recipe, JDawgs’ special sauce is brewed every week “in small batches with love” by real live human beings: “we’d have robots do it, but sadly they’re incapable of loving anything.” You can find their locations here.

Celebrating Cinco de Mayo the American way is how most people celebrate it: the holiday is more widely celebrated in the United States than in Mexico. Many people think Cinco de Mayo is Mexico’s Independence Day, but it actually commemorates the Mexican Army’s unlikely victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. (Mexico’s Independence Day is September 16.) No country in the Americas has been invaded by a European force since.
